I've worked on markets before. In various locations across London for a couple of different companies (Big up Crosstown Doughnuts!), but this is my first with my own work and my own name. It's exciting!
The market is the Independent Bath Market, held in Abbey Green, Bath every third Sunday of the month from April to October. Plenty of opportunity to meet other traders as well as locals and tourists!
I like to think of myself as a people person. I like to chat and joke, and where else is better while selling your own products! (I hope!)
As I work a busy full time job, I wanted to still find a way of creating and making products that I wanted to make, where I made the final decision. I found it best to draw and create cards and the like for the time being, with hopes of expanding into gift wrap and notebooks, because who doesn't love stationary?!
So I am selling my greetings cards and postcards on my very first market stall (btw they're already on the shop section of my website if you fancy a browse!)
Until yesterday (Wednesday) I was panicking that I haven't got enough stock for Sunday, panicking that I have prepared enough and I am just going to make a fool of myself turning up with JUST cards? So I quickly designed some postcards and sent them off for printing. I've just picked them up, and they look fab.
After this panic last night, I packed all my cards into plastic wallets with my envelopes, and honestly, I don't know what i was worrying about. I have enough stock. Still glad I designed those postcards though, everyone loves a postcard (or is that just me? Oops!).
So I've sorted the insurance, the stall itself, the stock and the great new app, Pixie (for Independent shops and traders- take a look!). Just the table, table cover and to stamp everything with my logo! Photos to follow...
P.S. I will be posting everything on my social media pages before, during and after the event.
